Good Deed Goods

GOOD DEED GOODS is a brick and mortar giveback GOOD DEED GOODS is a brick and mortar giveback boutique helping you GIVE WELL and DO GOOD so that you can join us in changing the world one gift at a time.

Hi there! We’re Melissa & Mary Emily (Mel), the mother-daughter team behind Good Deed Goods, a local boutique in Murrells Inlet, SC where every gift gives back!

At Good Deed Goods we work hard to offer a shopping experience where you get to shop for unique goods that have story and purpose. We strive to stock goods that are socially conscious and have a mission of their own and with every gift purchase, we donate 10% back to charities and organizations throughout our community, nation, and world that we feel are making a difference for GOOD. We absolutely LOVE offering our customers the opportunity to make an impact as they shop and love that together we can do our part to change the world one gift at a time.

Our whole business model is centered on bridging the gap between the world of getting and the world of giving. We want to operate in the tension between wants and needs and acknowledge that we live in a world where need is great for so many men, women, and children. We want every gift we sell to be part of something bigger which is why we give back to our community, our country, and the world with every single purchase.

The feeling that we get to share with you how easy (& fun!) it is to be part of global change with your purchases. Whether you’re shopping for home, baby, or anything in between, we have unique gifts for everyone! Stop by and see our ever-changing array of goods

Good Deed Goods Origin Story

Gifts have always been a part of Lee’s Inlet Apothecary. Since our doors opened in 2002 people could come in and purchase something for themselves or for someone else. It was not until a decade or so later that Good Deed Goods came on the scene as a give back boutique within the Apothecary.

The origin story of Good Deed Goods began several years before we re-branded and became the gift boutique we are today. I was at the Atlanta gift market and most of my family was in Honduras building a home for a family there. As I was going down the escalator in Building 3 of Americasmart I was overcome with the fact that I was in a place that felt like Candy Land. Everything before me was a want and not a need and as I looked to fill my store with things that were wanted and not needed, my family was in a developing country meeting the basic need of shelter. Stepping off that escalator I felt like the Lord was saying to me, “Do more” I just was not sure at the time what that was. Out of that moment, I began to seek what the Lord meant about doing more and He led us to applying the concept of the tithe to our gifts. In the scriptures we are told in Deuteronomy 14:22 make an offering of ten percent, a tithe and so that is what Willie and I felt led to do.

Our boutique’s name also comes from the scriptures, and it is found in Hebrews 10:24 which reads let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. I am beyond grateful to serve the Lord in our boutique with my eldest daughter Mary Emily “Mel”. We are both passionate about the mission behind Good Deed Goods and we love the fact that whenever a gift is now purchased for someone or even for oneself that it truly is a gift that keeps on giving! We believe that the Lord can take a little change (10%) and make BIG changes with it.

We hope if you find yourself looking for a special something for someone or for yourself that you will stop by and check us out.
